Now that you have your stunning new tattoo, it's time to give it the love and care it deserves. Our aftercare page is here to guide you through the essential steps to ensure your tattoo heals beautifully and remains vibrant for years to come. Let's dive in and discover how to keep your tattoo looking its absolute best!
KEEP SECOND SKIN FOR 3–4 DAYS
The wet heal process is when your artist will apply a medical adhesive bandage onto your tattoo. This bandage can remain on your tattoo for 3–4 days. This medical bandage is considered your scab and you will immediately jump into ‘Day 7-14’ of the Dry Heal stages.
There are several benefits of using a second skin on a new tattoo:
Water resistance.
Micropores allow for breathing.
Protective layer—keeps dirt and grime off.
Stays in place
Flexible for an awkward tat design
Easy healing
If the bandage falls before that, DON’T worry. Your skin will revert back to the ‘Dry Heal’ Method. Follow all the steps in the Dry Heal process.
REMOVING THE SECOND SKIN
If you’re able to keep the bandage on for the recommeded time given by your artist, your tattoo is well on its way to healing.
To remove:
Pick an edge of the bandage and peel it away. We recommend doing this in the shower
Pull the second skin off slowly. If you pull too quickly; it’s going to sting, you'll damage the new layer of skin underneath and the adhesive layer may remain stuck on your skin.
Make sure you wash your tattoo carefully after removing the bandage and apply moisturizer
FIINAL STAGE OF SCABBING & SETTLING INK
By now your scabs should have fallen off.
Continue to apply unscented balms, creams or unscented lotion.
Wash when necessary.
Try to avoid any sun exposure. Although faded tattoos are inevitable, exposing a new tattoo to the sun can greatly affect the healing process. It is recommended to apply natural forms of SPF and/or sunscreen.
Do not scratch, pick, peel or exfoliate remaining scab flakes.
Tattoo is still healing underneath even if all visible scabs are off.
